Koh Lanta (Island) :Ten year ago, Koh Lanta was unknown on the map of traveling Krabi. It starts from the over flow of tourist from Phi Phi island and Phuket, kick start to let people mention more about this hidden island.

Lanta island is just start to creep on it fours – full power supply happened last five years, follows by telephone line in next few years. These made the number of resorts increase to be about 80 by today. This is not considering dense after dotting on 9 different beaches of 35 kilometers long from north to south.

There is accommodation to suit every taste and budget from backpacker bungalows to boutique resorts, as well as a luxury five-star hotel. All are located right on the beach which there is no road in between and keep enough distance each others make the beach feel dessert even through in peak season.

Koh Lanta count as biggest island of Krabi with 35 kms long and 6 kms wide. Half of this long thin island is the national park made it is unspoiled, lush and wild feel. Along the east coast is flat with nine sandy beaches and the west coast is highland with lush rainforest and fresh mangrove.

Last year the road network on the island is renovated and rebuild, mostly concrete paved surface except last few kilometers to the south end of national park where the light house located, the road unpaved, dirt and slippery in rain season. Rental a jeep or bike touring around the island on your own is one of recommended Koh Lanta's activities.

Koh Lanta's night life is limit; you will never see monster discothèque or pub or even just one Go Go on the island. Mostly bars located on the beach and just a few minute walk from your place will find one. All open air, chill out atmosphere and simple building with thatched roof with individual style of their decoration.

Conclusion, Koh Lanta is suite for traveler need total relaxation and away from mass tourism with fair convenient of amenity and facilities of each resort provided.

 

Klong Dao Beach

The famous family beach of the island. This moon curve shape beach advantage on shallow water and tiny wave with white sand and clear water, here perfect for amateur swimmer especially for children. This 3 kms beach front scattered with variety of resorts, restaurant and small beach bar. It is also the first beach developed on Koh Lanta but still kept the laid back atmosphere and island feel and never be crowded even in Peak Season.
 

Long Beach or Pra Ae Beach

Mostly know as Long Beach . This five kilometers straight beach is unspoiled with very clear water and white powder sand still fully with original pine and coconut jungle. The resorts scattered along the beach and keep enough distance to feel privacy. Here can found the basic accommodations up to finest five star resorts. Five minute beach walk will found local restaurant and some beach bars.

 

Klong Khong or Klong Kong Beach

Is here with three kilometer straight parallels along the main street. The beach is verdant with the jungle of coconut tree and lying of many small local family own resorts. The sand is grain white with clear water. The accommodations here considered cheapest compare with other beaches. Some call the heaven for backpacker.

 

Klong Nin Beach

One of the most popular beaches is here with three kilometers straight beach with golden brown sand and clear water. On the beach with a range of pine and coconut jungle alternate with many local resorts and a few three and four star resort. Beach walk can found many restaurant and small natural style beach bars.

 

Ba Kan Tieng Beach

One kilometer beach with powdered grained sand with clear blue sea. The atmosphere here feels more rugged and wild with big tree and dense forest. There are only five resort here ranging from five star to basic bungalow. The paved road is ended here.

 

Ao Nui Bay

Last beach or Ao Mai Pai

As local people called. Here is the last beach before going in to the National Park area. The beach is truly unspoiled and surrounded of the tropical rainforest of the National Park. There are a few basic bungalow located.
 

National Park Beach

There are two beaches in Ko Lanta's National Park - Had Hin Ngam (a beautiful stone beach) and Tanod or Palm Beach . These two beaches stand on protected land, with no nearby resorts. The surrounding area is rich and diverse with amazing tropical nature, trekking and walking trail-ways and fantastic opportunities for bird and wild life watching.

Ko Lanta's symbol, the lighthouse overlooking the southernmost tip of the island, provides a fabulous panoramic view, and the beach is a well-known beauty spot for picnics.
